The East Tennessee Plant Swap would like to strongly suggest that participants refrain from growing, planting, or swapping plants that are invasive (environmentally damaging) to our local ecosystem. Invasive plants are more than just fast growers and rapid reseeders...they are plants that cause significant displacement or harm to native populations of plants or animals. Not all weedy/aggressive plants are invasive!
The Tennessee Invasive Plant Council (TN-IPC) keeps up with the plants that pose the worst dangers in our state. A list of plants to avoid can be found at
www.tnipc.org/invasive-plants/.
