I noticed a couple of people mentioning butterfly bush. I just wanted to point out that butterfly bush is a non-native, invasive species. While it appears to be beneficial to butterflies because they sip the nectar, it actually harms them (and all other wildlife) in the long run. Please take a look at this website:

I hope everyone will consider planting native pollinators instead. Butterfly weed is a native alternative to butterfly bush. There are numerous other native plants that are both beautiful and beneficial. We have pollinator gardens with milkweed, butterfly weed, Joe-Pye weed, goldenrod, button bush, bee balm, brown-eyed Susan, iron weed, and many others. There are many online resources on this topic. The Native Plant Rescue Squad (https://www.nativeplantrescuesquad.com/) is a local organization that rescues native species and sells them at extremely low cost.
