We had another great swap. The weather was slightly chilly, but I survived even with short pants. I was able to find homes for around 50 plants and only had to bring back 3 or 4. I also snagged a few great plants. As usual, I was able to get some unusual and really neat plants. It's kind of amazing what some people have to share! I counted people 4 times and got a different number eveby Brandon7 - Spring 2025 Results

This is what I have so far: Trees (in 1-gallon pots unless otherwise stated) Castanea mollissima (Chinese chestnut) - in larger pots but still relatively small. have 2 Maclura pomifera 'Douglas Avenue' (Osage orange) - this one is an own-root specimen and a very rare cultivar. Asimina triloba (pawpaw) seeds (have a few) - This is the largest edible fruit indigenous to the United States and taste somewhat like banana custard. These seeds are from my orchard and are seeds from the best pawpaw cultivars, so should produce superior plants. They are cleaned, float tested, and in the process of being stratified. Also have a bunch that didn't pass the float test but woby Brandon7 - Fall 2024 Have

Hey Leigh, as of now, I am planning on October 5th here at my farm. New Harvest and other parks big enough to host the swap are getting extremely hard to book. For instance, New Harvest is typically booked up within hours of when they start taking reservations at the beginning of the year. I kept thinking I might be able to find an alternative, but didn't have any luck. Even Holston Riverby Brandon7 - Fall 2024 Discussion
Since our normal location, New Harvest Park, was booked up immediately after the park service started taking reservations, we had to pick a new location this time. After a lot of searching for somewhere that could possibly work, Holston River Park was chosen. Personally, I preferred New Harvest, but that just wasn't an option. We had about 65 attendees, which was our third highest attendby Brandon7 - Spring 2024 Results
Direct sowing is the most common way to grow a pumpkin, but small plants can definitely be transplanted. Bonnie Plants, for instance, sells small pumpkin plants at many local stores, and they are easy to transplant and grow.by Brandon7 - Spring 2024 Want
I'd like a Latham raspberry bush or two. Check my list to see if there's something you'd be willing to trade for. I may also be bringing some named irises (if I get time to dig them before the swap).by Brandon7 - Spring 2024 Have

Edited: I drove down there today and took a look. The one we will be at is the one called Shelter #1. Like you say, it is the one closer to the middle of the park and is at the western side (near the road). The map I was looking at before didn't even show Shelter #2. Thankfully there appears to be plenty of tables and room to walk, so we should be in good shape even if it rains. Also, tby Brandon7 - Spring 2024 Discussion
We had 23 attendees this time. That's far less than we'd hoped for, but somewhere around average for a fall swap. The weather was great and I think everyone that attended had a great time. I got some awesome plants, including quite a few begonias I didn't already have. Now all I need is a giant greenhouse!by Brandon7 - Fall 2023 Results

It seems that quite a few people are looking at the posts on here for this fall, but very few are posting or actively participating on this site. For those of you looking here, don't assume that low traffic counts on here necessarily means few people at the swap. Multiple facebook groups have posts about this fall's swap, and quite a few people have responded to those posts. I'mby Brandon7 - Fall 2023 Discussion

Frances, I would love to have a variegated strawberry begonia. I have one that looks a little like 'Wightii', and could even be that cultivar, but doesn't look as bold as the Google Pics of that plant. The dots on mine look faded compared to the pictures. Thanks for everyone that came to the Spring 2023 East Tennessee Plant Swap today. We only had around 45 people, but it was still a lot of fun! I found homes for all the plants I took, and I came home with a few neat plants and some awesome pots. We had a few people that didn't understand how the swap works. We don't sell things and we don't take things without asking. Hopefby Brandon7 - Spring 2023 Results
